Founded in 2011 to take on a problem the industry walked away from.

Large pharmaceutical companies stepped back from antibiotics. Fedora stepped in. From Edmonton, Alberta, our scientists have discovered anti-infectives that doctors still prescribe today, and we put that track record behind the next generation of candidates.

AMR is one of the top ten global public health threats. As bacteria evolve to resist the antibiotics modern medicine depends on, the world urgently needs new ones — the problem Fedora exists to solve.

The science

We disarm the enzymes that make antibiotics fail.

Bacteria make beta-lactamase enzymes that destroy beta-lactam antibiotics: penicillins, cephalosporins, and carbapenems. Those three classes are over 60% of every antibiotic prescribed. Fedora's inhibitors shut the enzymes down and put the drugs back to work.
