Our history

A team with four decades of antibiotic discovery experience.

Fedora Pharmaceuticals Inc. is a Canadian biotechnology company dedicated to discovering and developing antibacterial therapies to combat the growing global threat of antimicrobial resistance. The first Canadian antibiotic to reach the world was tazobactam, invented by the late Dr. Ronald Micetich; the second was nacubactam, discovered by Fedora under the leadership of Christopher Micetich, cementing the Micetich family's extraordinary record of translating science into life-saving medicines. Both men have been inducted into the BioAlberta BioIndustry Hall of Fame, and each has received an Alberta ASTech Award in recognition of their achievements in scientific innovation, entrepreneurship, and advancing biotechnology.

TodayAdvancing our pipeline

In Canada's history, only two home-discovered antibiotics have ever reached the global market. Fedora's team discovered both.

The challenge

Antimicrobial resistance is outpacing our medicines.

AMR is one of the top ten global public health threats. As bacteria evolve to resist the antibiotics modern medicine depends on, the world needs new ones. That is the problem Fedora exists to solve.
